American jazz stars with messages of hope, joy and love

We are joined this year by the great American jazz vocalist and composer Ruth Naomi Floyd, and her quartet, all the way from Philadelphia. Her concerts and recordings incorporate jazz, African-American spirituals and her original work, and she leads her own multi- faceted ensemble in this late-night session. Blessed with a soaring mezzo-soprano voice, her music has been praised for its distinctive sound, blended with messages of hope, faith, redemption and love.

It is great joy for me to welcome Ruth Naomi Floyd and her friends to Cumnock. She has visited the Tryst on a few occasions over the years and I’ve been very keen to give her a platform here so that our audience can share the unique and moving beauty of her songs and insights. This promises to be a very special late night show at the Dumfries Arms Hotel.
